- Friendship goals #1
When Carrie was cheating on Aidan, her swoon-worthy, extremely tall and beautiful furniture-making boyfriend, with Big, her married ex-boyfriend, Samantha was the first person she confided in.
After telling her dirty secret, Carrie asks Samantha: “Don’t you want to judge me, just a little?” Samantha replies as only Samantha can: with a sweet wink and an even sweeter “Not my style”.
We all mess up in life from time to time, so it’s a great gift to have friends who stick with you through it all with humor and love, and without judgment.
- Carrie’s apartment
I have been dreaming of my own version of Carrie’s life for a very long time – what with the fabulous writing career that somehow pays for those $400 a pop designer shoes, the blissful freedom to work from home and the fabulous clothes – but I may dream even more of living in her apartment. It’s just so pretty!
The earthy tones, her little writing desk by the window, the dreamy bedroom, those tiles in the bathroom, the casually placed art and framed photographs, all of the furniture (including that wonderful chair Aidan made), the HUGE closet. Girlfriend has her priorities straight. Not only does the place look beautiful, but it’s one of those rare gorgeous interiors you can actually see yourself living in.
- Friendship goals #2
Miranda’s mother unexpectedly dies in season 4, and at the end of the funeral service she has to walk alone behind her mother’s coffin because… no lover in sight. When Carrie sees how she’s struggling, she jumps next to her and walks with her, holding her hand, supporting her.
That’s love.
- The fashion
Ah, Sex and the City. Not just the clothes, but the outfits! There are no words. So much beauty, fun and creativity. Plus, all four ladies have very different styles, so never a boring moment.
Samantha is the sexy businesswoman, often wearing sexy suits in all the brightest colors (and pulling it off!), preferring huge jewelry and huge cleavage.
Charlotte is the wasp with an interesting twist, Miranda… at times you may start thinking she’s too subdued, especially compared to the other ladies, but then she surprises you with a big piece of ethnic jewelry or a color combo to die for.
And last but not least, my personal favorite, Carrie. It’s amazing how she can pull off all those fabulous outfits (let alone afford them) consisting of bold mixed prints, huge accessories and sky-high heels (she can even freakin’ walk in them!). I could never think of any of those outfits myself and somehow, even when they can’t possibly, realistically and scientifically work, they still work so well.
- The men
Six seasons, 68 relationships (give or take). The more I binge watch SATC, the more I can apply it to my own life. It’s fun to discover that personality traits, hairlines and overall behavior of the SATC men start baring a striking resemblance to said characteristics of the men in my own life. From beautiful furniture making to emotionally unavailable but oh so damn attractive to dildo model… no wait, on second thought not ALL of them bare a striking resemblance to my suitors. Not yet, anyway.
Needless to say, after all these years I still love love luuuve SATC. It’s fashion eye candy, full of witty puns and clever dialogues, lots of BFF love and challenging relationships.
All my life goals packed in six lovely seasons. What more can a girl ask for?
