I applaud you. You are very wise. Of course you have intimacy issues, anyone in his right mind should have them. Intimacy is beautiful but also incredibly scary. Recently I once again made the mistake of reading online comments, this time about a beautiful, rock and roll-ish photoshoot of Taylor Swift for Vogue. A variation on “Eww, she’s so awkward” seemed to be a popular opinion. My first thought while reading these comments was how very sad it is, this reflex to immediately attack a beautiful young woman, if not by scrutinizing her body, then by lashing out at the vibe anonymous internet twats think it exudes.

Women and sexuality; it has been a popular subject for ages, probably even since the cavemen days. But it is not just a topic for philosophers and elevated conversation at the dinner table. Throughout history, men in power have often tried to control, suppress and even claim women’s sexuality. These men want to take sexuality away from women to be its safe keeper, claiming it is for their own good. Ironically, the men who want to be women’s safe keepers often turn out to be the ones women need safekeeping from in the first place.
